Stands for oil and vinegar cruets were invented in about 1720. The first examples generally contained three shakers and two cruets. However, there were also versions holding just two cruets, one for the oil and the other for the vinegar, though at the end of the eighteenth century some cruet stands could hold up to eight or ten containers.
Our cruet stands are made out of mouth-blown glass or crystal. The structure is made from crafted cast pewter.
